Jarrah post heat, giving the thumbs down on the contest scene.
The team is no longer surfing in the US Open because the waves are shit! But they will still be running around the streets of Huntington and hanging at the autograph signings at Jacks on friday at 3pm and HSS at 2pm on Sunday. So be there or be SQUARE!!!

CASEY BROWN MAKES MAIN EVENT
US OPEN is fully underway and Casey has been slugging it out with all the QS Warriors, now officially making the main event.
From the ASP website, "Casey Brown (Kona, HI) put the remaining trialists on notice today, while securing the highest heat total of the today’s Trials competition, a 17.00 out of a possible 20. The progressive goofy-footer lit up the tiny peaks with a flurry of speedy, fin-free maneuvers and unmatched power."
Good job Casey.

Matt Coaching the Fuel TV team in the battle of the media/ industry surf off.
Matt had to crack the wip on the Fuel team, they didn't even know how to wax their own boards.

MOTO X
So, Christian rolls over on this gnarly crotch rocket and does doughnuts all over the parking lot. I never knew he was into the fast and the furious but he is always down to live dangerously. Make sure the kids aren't playing in the streets because Christian's out there going lighting fast through the streets.

From what I understand this film, Chop Suey, is a really unique and open-minded art film, which the Fletcher family has a starring role in. This is what I found on the “cyber encyclopedia,” about Chop Suey.
This is a lush and sometimes loud film by the photographer who brings you the A&F catalogue every 3 months, Bruce Weber.
Weber's unerring eye for beauty and culture are pleasantly shared, as is his fantastic photo collection, his historic archival footage with the likes of Diana Vreeland, editor of Vogue magazine, the slacker surfing champions that are "Nixon's Neighbors," an obscure English adventurer, and his own personal and professional anecdotes The book "Chop Suey Club," already a collector's item, is so obviously a labor of love, and the movie lets us in on some of Peter Johnson's allure and charm.

NEW WAVE
So I'm cruising all around looking out for the hottest surfing trends in the market. I ran into Big J yesterday, he's claiming it's all about new wave and I didn't believe him. Then this morning I saw surfing legend Occy cruising down the street decked out in new wave gear, check him, he's got a back back and a fanny pack, so new wave. After that I ran into Jon Jon and Matt Patterson and they both said new wave is the new black, so it's confirmed, it's all new wave.

Russel Smith

Russel just got back from a trip to Indonesia, he did a fine job living on the Island of Dr. Monroe and even rangled snakes in his spare time. This is a photo of him really laying a nice rail, warm water shimmering off the rail of his board, hands poised for a whitewater rebound, legs holding onto the gforce from such a strong turn, he is really displaying his fine ability of wave riding.

LEGENDS

So I’m flipping through some old surf mags and I start realizing that Christian or Archy are on every other page. It’s crazy, all the other dudes were full-on neon warriors wearing webs and yellow Oakley blades, doing floaters or soul carves. Then you come across Christian or Archy and they look like badass Surf Nazis heshions and they’re doing airs and crazy slashes no one else is doing.
Here are a few photos from a 1989 issue of Surfer, but go rummage through your dad’s collection or the local surfboard factory.

CASEY BROWN

You may have been asking yourself what’s with all the photos of Nolan and where the hell is the surf team?
Pictured here is one of RVCA's finest surf athletes, Casey Brown. This past weekend Casey showed up to compete in the Nike 6.0 JR pro event at Huntington pier. He surfed really well but was defeated in his quarterfinal heat, only needing a 5.7 that he actually caught right after the horn. That’s why we need to invest in a wave machine, enough of this waiting around for waves, let’s flip a switch and get to shredding. Plus, if we had a wave machine you wouldn't have to make all the coffee talk with the old timers or get as sun burnt waiting for waves, you could surf for an hour and get all your ripping done for the day. Hence, you could develop other cool skillz like fencing, croquet or cricket. Surfers would be modern day Renaissance men, becoming top socialites and schmoozing with high society.

Quatro de Julio

Mad props go out to all the geezers who liberated the nation with guns blazing on those English turkeys. We payed homage to our forfathers by getting smashed and shooting off fireworks. A bunch of the RVCA crew went out on the town together and light the streets on fire. We ended up at 51st at a house party and turned the living room into a dance floor, there were all sorts of innovative moves, the astrounaute, drunken monkey, surfer stomp, back scratcher, worm, pogo jump and a few that are so fresh they don't even have names.

GATO SLEDS

So Nolan gets the best sled ever from Gato Heroi but was unsatisfied with the color so I decided to go buy one in green just to make him jealous. Deez boards is mad fly and now I gotz me one. These are the same boards Alex Knost rides, they're made by Robin Regel, you need to check em out because they rule. Also big ups to birthday boy Chris who works with Gato, thanks for keeping it trill.
"The wave is the wedge and it will kill you, so don't even!!!" BIG J
Media Hype

So yesterday I spent some time with John from Tray mag, just the usual hang out, surf and shoot the sheot or what they say in the biz "networking." Apparently Nolo is up for another cover shot but I think that is totally wack because Noodles and I nailed the sickest shots from our trip to paradise last weekend. So what if Nolo (pictured above) is super marketable and his sponsors are shelling out top dollar for ad's, Noods and I embody the soul of traying.
I snapped on Big John and told him if he runs another cover of Nolo, I'm just going to tray for myself and not even shoot photos anymore. Then this morning I surfed with Alex Knost and when I told him the deal he totally tripped. He's all about keeping Tray mag rootsy and supporting the real trayers, and not just the guys who are good looking and posing hard core for the "shot." But no worries, hopefully John will come to his senses and continue to run a free press, core mag like he should!!

Tray Board Scrapin
This weekend was all about keeping it hyfe and trayboarding for the cause. Big J, Noodles and myself were on the search for the most ludacris shore pounding super tubes. This rootsey mission landed us in paradise where we found a secret beach filled with olive skin and exotic beauties. The waves were perfect, the water was warm and the sun was shining.
